Welcome to our website. If you live in West Essex you'll be glad you've found us. We're a small friendly club offering access to outdoor bowls, indoor short mat bowls and other activities like table tennis, bridge and social events. We're always looking for new members and our subscriptions are the lowest in the area. We'd especially like to hear from bowlers or anyone wishing to take up bowls. Our big news last year was that thanks to a major grant from Sport England and the National Lottery, we had a new artificial green put down.
All year round  we play short-mat bowls indoors, come along any Monday evening from 6.00 pm. Our outdoor season starts on 1st April 2018, we have a club night roll up on Thursday evenings from 6.00 pm. starting 5th April 2018 which is open to newcomers. For either, just come along in a pair of flat shoes and introduce yourself to a member. We'll make you feel really welcome and let you try putting up a wood or two. We'll also tell you about all the other things Bantham & Ongar Bowls Club has to offer.

Thanks for your interest and feel free to explore the website further.

Watch out for our Free Open Days - (See above) Following these we offer our Play Bowls 4 Fun programme  sessions. A four session, once a week course offering a fun, informal and relaxed introduction to the sport of Bowls. The course is ideal for beginners and those wishing to try a new sport, it is open to all.

Bowls will always be our raison d'être but if not sports minded, how about the social side.
Regular activities include
  • Whist nights on alternate Saturday evenings (7.00 pm).
  • If you are a Bridge enthusiast at any level then we'd be glad to see you at our Wednesday morning sessions starting at 9:30 and finishing around 1:00 p.m.
  •  Table Tennis club  on Thursday evenings from September
  • Short Mat Bowls – Monday evenings from 6:00 pm & Wednesday afternoon at 2.00 pm.

  • Tai Chi - Wednesday Evening at 7.30 p.m.
